MThe Ministry of Defense has exempted some journalists, employees of telecom operators and financial organizations from conscription for mobilization. They still need to report to the military enlistment office on a summons with documents confirming the postponement

If an employee of an accredited IT organization, telecommunications company or mass media who meets the requirements for obtaining a deferral from mobilization has already received a summons, he must appear at the military enlistment office with documents confirming this, the Ministry of Finance reports.

It is recommended to have with you:

  • original or certified copy of the employment contract;
  • diploma of higher education;
  • extract from the register of state accreditation of the employer company in the field of IT (for IT specialists), a copy of the license issued to the employer on the implementation of activities in the field of communication services ( for employees of the telecommunications sector) or the original confirmation of the Ministry of Finance of the backbone role of its organization in the field of information and communications (for media workers), certified by the CEO or a person authorized by him;
  • a certificate from the place of work signed by the CEO or a person authorized by him that the employee is involved in the development, development, implementation, maintenance and operation of IT solutions or in ensuring the functioning of the information infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security and integrity of the functioning of individual communication facilities, communication facilities and communication lines of the public communication network or data processing centers or providing the production and distribution of information products, depending on the specialty.

On Friday, September 23, the Ministry of Defense announced that it would exempt employees of some industries from conscription. In addition to IT specialists and employees of telecom operators, the list includes employees of “system-forming organizations in the field of information and communications” and financial organizations.

In addition to workers in these areas, a postponement, according to the law “On mobilization training and mobilization in the Russian Federation”, is due to deputies and senators; those who care for sick relatives; having a pregnant wife and three dependent children under 16, or four children under the age of 16, or raising without a mother of one child of this age; citizens who have received a reservation by the decision of the government; as well as those who are not fit for health.

President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to determine which other categories of citizens will be granted a postponement.

The authorities promised to call only those Russians who served in the army, have combat experience and in-demand specialties. The Ministry of Defense clarified that enlistment is subject to privates and sergeants up to 35 years old, junior officers up to 50 years old and seniors up to 55 years old.
