The European Union is considering the possibility of extending the trade liberalization regime with Ukraine, Bloomberg reports with reference to the executive vice-president of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.

According to Dombrovskis, the EU is likely to extend these measures because they provide tangible economic support to Ukraine.

The trade liberalization regime was adopted last year until June 2023. The resolution provides for zero customs rates for a number of goods from Ukraine, suspends the use of the entry price system and the effect of tariff quotas.

According to the Ministry of Economy of the country, in particular, the tariffs prescribed in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU were suspended. We are talking about duties for industrial products, suspension of the application of the system of input prices for fruits and vegetables and all tariff quotas for agricultural products.

The liberalization of trade relations also assumes that Kiev will comply with European rules on the origin of goods and procedures under the Association Agreement, refrain from new restrictions on imports from the EU and ensure respect for democratic principles, the rule of law, as well as the fight against corruption, the agency noted.

According to the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas, over the past year, Ukrainian exports to the EU countries continued to grow, despite the ongoing hostilities.According to the results of last year, it grew by 4.2% compared to 2021 and amounted to about $ 28 billion, Ukrainian Forbes reported with reference to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
