BThe Asmanny court arrested Marina Ovsyannikova in absentia in the case of fakes about the army, the court tightened the measure of restraint for Marina Ovsyannikova. Earlier, the ex-editor of Channel One reported that she refuses to comply with house arrest, as she considers herself innocent, and left Russia Marina Ovsyannikova The Basmanny Court of Moscow granted the petition of the investigation and agreed to arrest the former editor of Channel One Marina Ovsyannikova, who is accused under paragraph 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code (public dissemination of fakes about the army motivated by political hatred), the press service of the court told RBC. Ovsyannikova was arrested for a month and 29 days, the term is credited “from the moment of extradition to the territory of Russia or from the moment of his detention on the territory of Russia”. The case against the journalist was initiated because of a picket on the Sofia Embankment in Moscow: in mid-July, Ovsyannikova went there with an anti-war poster with photos of children killed in Ukraine. The former editor has been under house arrest since August 11, but on October 5 she said that she refuses to comply with the measure of restraint and “releases” herself from it. Ovsyannikova stressed that she considers herself innocent. The Interior Ministry has put the woman on the wanted list.
Later, lawyer Dmitry Grabatov said that Ovsyannikova had left Russia and was now “under the protection of one of the European countries”.
Ovsyannikova gained fame in March when, while working on Channel One, she went behind the back of presenter Ekaterina Andreeva with an anti-war poster in a live news broadcast, recording a video message before that. In the Kremlin, the action was considered “hooliganism”, the editor was fined 30 thousand rubles. She quit and went to Germany, where she worked for a while as a freelance correspondent for Die Welt.
In the summer Ovsyannikova returned to Russia, she was fined twice under the article on discrediting the army.
