Later, lawyer Dmitry Grabatov said that Ovsyannikova had left Russia and was now “under the protection of one of the European countries”.
Ovsyannikova gained fame in March when, while working on Channel One, she went behind the back of presenter Ekaterina Andreeva with an anti-war poster in a live news broadcast, recording a video message before that. In the Kremlin, the action was considered “hooliganism”, the editor was fined 30 thousand rubles. She quit and went to Germany, where she worked for a while as a freelance correspondent for Die Welt.
In the summer Ovsyannikova returned to Russia, she was fined twice under the article on discrediting the army.
