NBC has learned about the plans of the US Congress to allocate $50 billion to Ukraine in 2023

Members of the US Congress are going to pass a law on the allocation of a new package of military assistance to Kiev in the amount of $ 50 billion, NBC TV channel reports, citing a congressional representative and a source close to the government of Ukraine.

This amount will be enough to “make sure that Ukraine will be able to survive next year,” the Republican senator told NBC.

According to the channel’s sources, the law is planned to be adopted before January 2023 due to concerns that new members of Congress may be more skeptical about helping Ukraine.

Republican leader in the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, who is ready to take the post of speaker if the Republican Party wins a majority in the November midterm elections, warned that his party members “are not going to give Ukraine carte blanche,” NBC reports.

On November 8, the United States will hold elections to the upper and lower houses of Congress – the Senate and the House of Representatives.

According to NBC, the US Congress has allocated about $65 billion to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian military operation. On October 1, American President Joe Biden signed a law on additional assistance to Kiev for $12.35 billion. The approved aid package includes, in particular, $4.5 billion for the fund of the Government of Ukraine and $3 billion for weapons, equipment and other military support.
