“Lavrov’s trademark for the 15 years or so that he has held the post of Russian Foreign Minister has been such bravado (Lavrov headed the department in 2004.—RBC). I don’t think there is an imminent threat of escalation right now,” the Hippie told the BBC television service (quoted by Reuters).

According to the British minister, the steps that the West is taking to support Ukraine are “very well verified”.;> to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia.

The day before, Lavrov, in an interview with Channel One, said that NATO, by supplying weapons to Ukraine, is actually entering into a proxy war with Russia. The Foreign Minister called the military assistance to Kiev an example of the “dishonesty of the Americans in terms of international law” and accused the United States of violating its obligationsin the field of international relations. The Minister also warned about the “significant risks of nuclear war”. We proceed from it,” Lavrov added.

Western countries continue to supply Kiev with weapons against the background of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In particular, the UK decided to transfer 6 thousand anti-tank and high-explosive missiles, more than 4 thousand portable Javelin and NLAW anti-tank complexes to the Ukrainian side. Defense Minister Ben Wallace said that the United Kingdom intends to increase supplies of air defense, artillery and ammunition to Ukraine, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised to transfer 100 million worth of weapons to Ukraine, including multi-purpose Starstreak missiles, as well as 120 armored vehicles and anti-ship complexes.

According to Johnson, the supply of weapons to Ukraine is the best that Western countries can do in response to the events there. The Prime minister admitted that he doubts the possibility of a successful conclusion of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.
