In the Zaporozhye direction, the first line of defense of the Ukrainian troops has been hacked, said Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the regional administration.
“Somewhere there is a reconnaissance by battle, somewhere a more in-depth offensive, which is accompanied by a sweep of a number of settlements. Our army has the initiative all along the front line. There are active hostilities,” he told RIA Novosti.
The main line of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is built along the Kamenskoye- Orekhov-Gulyai-Pole line, he added.
In mid-January, Rogov reported several times on the progress of Russian troops in the region. In particular, on January 19, he spoke about the capture of four settlements near the city of Orekhov, and on January 21, he announced the process of establishing control over at least seven populated points, indicating that the troops had advanced 7km. “The intensity of hostilities has sharply increased in the Zaporozhye direction,” he stressed.
Rogov wrote that the Ukrainian artillery in the region faced “acute shell starvation” due to the strikes of the Russian army on the warehouses and positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Zaporozhye region, together with the Kherson and the republics of Donbass, became part of Russia following the results of referendums held in the autumn of 2022. The regional authorities presented the results of the vote, according to which 97% of voters supported joining Russia.
Ukraine and most countries of the world have not recognized the territorial changes, the regional center of the city of Zaporozhye remains under the control of Kiev. Moscow’s position was supported by four countries – North Korea, Nicaragua, Belarus and Syria, China abstained.
