The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will replace the country’s defense minister: the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov will take the place of Alexey Reznikov, deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak wrote in Telegram.

Reznikov will take the place of Pavel Ryabikin, Minister for Strategic Industries.

According to Zheleznyak, the Rada also approved Vasily Malyuk as the permanent head of the SBU, and Igor Klimenko as the head of the Interior Ministry (before that there were acting ones).

“RBC Ukraine” with reference to sources writes that the head of the faction David Arakhamiya informed the deputies from “Servants of the People” about the personnel reshuffle, voting on candidates will take place at the next plenary session.

Information about the upcoming reshuffles got into the Ukrainian press in advance; Reznikov in an interview with “Ukrainian Truth” noted that there was no talk about the termination of his activities as head of the Ministry of Defense, but he is ready for any development of events.

The change of the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was discussed amid a scandal over the purchase of products for military personnel at inflated prices. After that, Deputy Minister Vyacheslav Shapovalov and Deputy Director of the Public Procurement Department Bogdan Khmelnitsky were dismissed. Later, they were arrested on suspicion of supplying units of the Ukrainian army with substandard body armor and purchasing body armor, helmets and other items for the Armed Forces at inflated prices.
