Zelensky told about fierce fighting in Donbass

A difficult situation remains in the Donbass on the line of combat contact, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said in a video message published on his telegram channel.

“It’s very difficult in the Donetsk region, fierce fighting. But no matter how hard it is, and no matter how much pressure there is, we must stand up,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the private military company Wagner, spoke about the difficult situation on the battlefield, reporting on difficult battles for every street, every house, every stairwell in Artemovsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut). “The APU is not retreating anywhere. The APU are fighting to the last”,” he stressed.

Artemovsk is located north of Gorlovka and serves as an important transport hub for the supply of the Ukrainian group of troops in the Donbass. In Kiev, for several months they have been talking about the difficult situation near this city: at the end of December, Zelensky called the situation “painful”. The APU noted that the last six months in this direction have been a living hell.

The Ukrainian authorities ruled out the possibility of withdrawing troops from Artemovsk, adviser to the office of the President Mikhail Podolyak explained that the country pays a huge price for its retention, since it is about protecting not just the territory, but our homes. This position was later confirmed by the President of Ukraine.

The DPR authorities claim that the artillery completely controls the approaches to Artemovsk, it will soon be taken due to the operational encirclement of the enemy. “The enemy began in a hurry to pull additional reserves to Artemovsk,” said Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the acting head of the DPR.
