The Ministry of Finance is forming an additional list of employees of IT companies to whom employers are asking for a deferral from conscription, according to the ministry’s website.
“Acceptance of applications for deferral from military service as part of the autumn draft has long been completed. Despite this, we continue to receive a large number of requests from IT companies with a request to grant a postponement to employees who meet the criteria,” the ministry explained the decision.
Applications will be accepted until 23:59 Moscow time on November 23. The final decision on granting a deferral remains with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance noted.
Initially, applications for deferral from service within the framework of the autumn draft were accepted from August 2 to August 11.
The autumn draft began in Russia on November 1, it will last until December 31. 120 thousand people are planned to be drafted into the army. This year, the draft started a month later than usual.
After the announcement of partial mobilization in September, the Ministry of Finance announced the possibility of obtaining a postponement for specialists from the fields of IT, communications and media. The ministry explained that this should ensure the stable operation of critical infrastructure facilities and guarantee the stable operation of digital services. The postponement was promised only to those specialists who work in accredited IT companies.

On November 16, the service for submitting applications for deferral from mobilization was closed. According to the head of the Ministry of Finance Maksut Shadaev, about 5 thousand specialists who received summonses used the right to delay. In addition, 65 mistakenly mobilized specialists were returned from military units.
