Civil servants do not have the privilege to spare their children from military service, they must pass it on a par with ordinary citizens, the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, wrote in his telegram channel.
He promised to check for what reasons the children of Dagestani officials had evaded military service, and to consider their cases at the draft commission. Melikov said that he had already familiarized himself with the list of children of individual officials who did not show up for conscription as part of the autumn campaign.
“There is an attempt to evade urgent military service. Why is it a duty for some to serve in the army, while others have some privileges just because their dads and moms hold good positions? I, the Colonel-General, have relatives to serve, but yours don’t?”The head of the republic asked a question.
He said that he instructed Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Ramazan Jafarov to collect information about each person involved in the list and find out who had objective reasons for postponement and who did not. Melikov promised to review the collected materials at the next meeting of the draft commission.

In August 2007, Melikov’s stepson, the commander of the assault group Dmitry Serkov, who served in the special forces unit “Vityaz”, died while performing a combat mission in Dagestan.
This year, the autumn conscription was postponed for a month and began on November 1 by decree of President Vladimir Putin. In total, 120 thousand people should be called up for military service during the autumn campaign.
Since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that conscripts will not be sent to participate in military operations.
According to the General Staff, the conscripts who have served will be “promptly sent” to their places of residence. “All conscripted servicemen whose service life has expired will be dismissed and sent to their places of residence in a timely manner,” said Vladimir Tsimlyansky, a representative of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff.
