The head of Rosstat Pavel Malkov may leave his post. He became the main candidate for the post of governor of the Ryazan region, a source familiar with the discussion of the issue told RBC. Malkov can apply for any governor’s chair, there is a possibility that he will take the position of the head of the Ryazan region, but options are possible, in turn, says a federal official familiar with the discussions.

The current head of the Ryazan Region, Nikolai Lyubimov, announced on May 10 that he would not run for a new term.

Malkov was born on January 29, 1980 in Saratov.

In 2001, he graduated from Saratov State Technical University with a degree in computer engineering and automated systems software. In 2004, he underwent professional retraining at the Volga Academy of Public Service named after Stolypin majored in “state and municipal administration”.

From 2006 to 2009 – Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Saratov region. In 2010, he became the head of the Committee on Informatization of the Saratov region. In 2012, he took the post of Deputy Director

of the Department of State Regulation in the Economy of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.

In 2017–2018— Director of the Department of Public Administration of the Ministry of Economic Development.

Rosstat headed in 2018.
