Earlier, the decision to resign was announced by the heads of the Tomsk, Kirov and Ryazan regions Sergey Zhvachkin, Igor Vasiliev and Nikolai Lyubimov, respectively.

Zhvachkin recalled that he turned 65 not so long ago and that the law limits governors to two terms of work. Vasiliev announced his intention to continue working at the federal level. Lyubimov expressed hope that he would be able to “be useful to the country in this difficult time” in a new position, without specifying which position he was talking about.
