It is time for Western politicians, including Secretary General Natoyens Stoltenberg, to understand that the desire to cease hostilities and the desire to send weapons to Ukraine are mutually excluded, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said in his telegram channel.

Earlier, Stoltenberg, during his speech at a meeting of the NATO parliamentary Assembly in Madrid, said that any conflict still ends with negotiations, but at the same time called for continued military assistance to Ukraine.

“Any conflict ends sooner or later at the negotiating table, but we want a peaceful solution that will be acceptable to Ukraine, and this is determined by success on the battlefield. Therefore, NATO should continue to expand supplies to Ukraine,” the head of the alliance said.

Commenting on these words, Kosachev noted that the desire for peace and the supply of weapons to Kiev are mutually exclusive theses. “It’s time for the obsessed politicians in the West to understand that the desire for peace and an end to bloodshed and the desire to further stuff Ukraine with weapons are multidirectional and mutually exclusive actions. More deaths for the sake of peace is definitely not something that will bring the negotiations closer, he added.

After the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the United States, the EU and other Western countries have increased military support for Kiev in terms of arms and equipment supplies. Moscow regularly criticizes these supplies. The Kremlin stressed that such actions would only prolong the conflict, but would not prevent Russia from achieving the goals of the military operation.
