The authorities of the two cities asked residents to leave the Donetsk region

The authorities of Slavyansk and Pokrovsk asked residents to temporarily leave the settlements. This was written on Facebook (the social network belongs to Meta Platforms, which was recognized as extremist in Russia and banned its activities) by the head of the Slavic military administration Vadim Lyakh and the mayor of Pokrovsk Ruslan Trebushkin.

“This is especially true for women with children, pensioners, people with chronic diseases,” Lyakh said.

According to him, people often refuse to evacuate due to lack of funds. Lyakh noted that evacuation trains work for free, and residents who have left will be able to receive additional payments at the place of temporary stay and, in special cases, get free housing, as well as find a job.

The mayor of Pokrovsk Trebushkin said that the authorities had prepared buses for the evacuation of the population and allocated the necessary amount of fuel for them. “There is already a preliminary agreement on the placement of citizens in a safe place. Accommodation will be free. I urge everyone to take care of the safety of their family and friends,” the mayor wrote.

He noted that buses will depart as they fill up, and asked residents to inform about their intention to leave the city by a special phone. The authorities will inform you about the gathering place additionally.

Pavel Kirilenko, the head of the Donetsk military administration, made a request to leave the region the day before. In an interview with the portal LIGA.net he stated that there is a “high probability” that the situation in the region will become more complicated.

The head of the Luhansk Regional Administration, Sergei Gaidai, also called on residents to evacuate on April 3.

The Russian military, as well as the forces of the LPR and DPR, continue the operation in Ukraine. The most difficult situation has developed in Mariupol, the Ministry of Defense declared the critical humanitarian situation in the city. Residents suffered from a lack of food, heat and medicine, the International Committee of the Red Cross said. Several humanitarian corridors were opened from Mariupol, through which civilians could leave it.

Fighting in the region of Mariupol has been going on almost since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that by March 18, the fighting for Mariupol was already in the city center. On April 4, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that Chechen servicemen were “actively storming” the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol.

On March 29, the head of the Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, said that the combat potential of the Ukrainian troops has been significantly reduced, which allows us to concentrate on achieving the main goal of liberating Donbass. The next day, the Ministry announced that the main tasks in the Kiev and Chernihiv directions had been completed and troops were regrouping there.
