The construction of a Large Ring Metro Line has been completed in Moscow, its launch is planned in the coming days, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported to President Vladimir Putin. Sobyanin said that the authorities of the capital wanted to open the line in the coming days and invited Putin to take part in the opening.
In turn, the President called the “powerful development of Moscow” the implementation of transport projects in the capital. He particularly noted how the city copes with traffic. “Yes, of course, with such a huge population and such a density, this is not an easy task, but in general, Moscow manages it better than many other megacities of the world,” Putin said.
The President also expressed hope that Sobyanin and his team “will maintain high rates and quality of work”.
Sobyanin’s term of office expires this year. The election of the mayor of Moscow is scheduled for September 10.
The construction of the Great Ring Line has been going on for the last ten years. In total, it will include 31 stations, and the total length of the line will be 70 kilometers. The task of the BCLV is, among other things, to unload the central metro stations and simplify movement between different districts.
In December 2021, Putin participated in the opening ceremony of the ten stations of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line. Then the president addressed Sobyanin and the workers via video link.

In 2005, Vladimir Putin participated in the opening of the metro in Kazan. Then he went down to the subway with the head of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev and Nursultan Nazarbayev who came to Tatarstan and rode the train.
