Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences over the death of LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky at the age of 76, according to the Kremlin website.

“I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of Vladimir Wolfovich Zhirinovsky. Vladimir Zhirinovsky was an experienced politician, an energetic, open-minded person, a bright speaker and polemicist,” the telegram says.

According to the head of state, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party has done a lot for the development of Russian parliamentarism, domestic legislation and has always sought to contribute to the solution of the most important national tasks.

Putin stressed that Zhirinovsky took a patriotic position in all discussions and defended the interests of Russia.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also asked to convey his deep condolences to Vladimir Zhirinovsky’s family, friends and colleagues.

“Everyone who knew Vladimir Wolfovich Zhirinovsky appreciated him as a multifaceted personality, respected him for his integrity, determination and determination, for personal decency and goodwill. This is how he will remain in our memory, in our hearts,” he stressed.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky died on April 6 at the age of 76 after a long illness.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin interrupted the plenary session to announce the death of Zhirinovsky. Deputies honored his memory with a minute of silence.

In early February, Zhirinovsky was hospitalized in the Central Clinical Hospital with an omicron variant of the coronavirus. A source of RBC said that the 75-year-old politician was connected to a ventilator and that he was in critical condition.

The LDPR denied all reports about the critical condition of the politician, and on February 21 said that he was on the mend. However, at the end of March, Volodin reported that the politician’s condition was assessed as severe. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov on March 25 also spoke about the serious condition of the leader of the LDPR.
