On October 24, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had prepared forces and means to perform tasks in conditions of radioactive contamination due to an impending provocation with a dirty bomb. The ministry believes that the purpose of this provocation is to accuse Russia of using weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine and launch a powerful anti-Russian campaign in the world aimed at undermining confidence in Moscow.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Kiev has already started implementing a plan with a dirty bomb, in particular, an order has been given to produce it. “We do not rule out assistance in solving this problem from some Western countries, which, according to incoming information, are negotiating with Ukraine on the supply of components for a dirty bomb,” the Foreign Ministry quoted her as saying.

According to her, according to available information, the Kiev regime plans to carry out the detonation of such a munition by disguising it as an abnormal operation of a low-power Russian nuclear munition, in which highly enriched uranium is used as a charge.

The Kremlin noted that Western countries decide for themselves whether to believe them or not to believe information about the possibility of using a dirty bomb. Their distrust does not eliminate threats, and it is up to Russia to bring information to the defense ministers of other states, said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
