In total, it is planned to move 50-60 thousand people.
The evacuation of civilians in the region was announced on Tuesday by the head of the interim administration of Kherson, Vladimir Saldo. According to him, the evacuation is carried out due to the threat of flooding, which may occur in the event of a strike by the Ukrainian military on the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
He also noted that Ukraine is accumulating forces in the Mykolaiv and Krivoy Rog directions.
The Russian military established control over the Kherson region in the spring. In September, it was incorporated into Russia following a referendum held in a part of the region controlled by Russian troops. In early October, President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding document, as well as laws on the accession of the Zaporozhye region, the DPR and the LPR to Russia. Ukraine calls these territories occupied. The authorities of Germany, the United States, Great Britain, Poland, Estonia, Turkey and other countries reported on the non-recognition of the results of the referendums.
