The United States should never allow a war with Russia or China, as it will lead to devastating consequences for the whole world. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (KNSH) US Armed Forces General John Hyten at a video conference organized by the Brookings Institution in Washington.
“As for the great powers, our goal should be never to go to war with China, never to go to war with Russia, because this day will be a terrible day for the planet, a terrible day for our countries. He will destroy the world, ” Hyten said.
According to the general, it is necessary to continue to conduct strategic negotiations with Russia and China. “Because, no matter how different we are, we have a fundamental common goal, and this is never to fight with each other, because a war with a nuclear power is bad,” he noted.
Earlier, Vice Admiral of the US Navy Charles Richard said that the conflict between the US and Russia, as well as China with the use of nuclear weapons is quite real. At the same time, he pointed out that the Pentagon considers the probability of using nuclear weapons as low.
The head of the strategic command also stated that the previous approach to the nuclear deterrence of opponents should be changed and adapted to the modern dynamic environment.
The US authorities have repeatedly called Russia the main threat to the United States. In January, shortly before his appointment as head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin stated that Russia and China are the main challenges to the United States, and claimed that both violate the global security atmosphere.
In turn, Moscow claimed that it was ready for a constructive dialogue with Washington.
