The accusations of Gazprom, which stated that part of the gas it supplies to consumers in Moldova, de facto settles in Ukraine, represent a gross manipulation of facts in order to further limit the volume of fuel supplies to European countries. This is stated in the statement of the operator of the gas transportation system (GTS) of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian company assured that the entire volume of gas received by Ukraine at the borders with Russia is transferred to Moldova. However, at the same time, part of the gas is returned to Ukraine in the form of a virtual reverse. Gazprom’s intention to restrict gas supplies to the GTS is assessed as an attempt to block the virtual reverse tool, increasing dependence on Russian natural gas at the beginning of the heating season and depriving Moldova of the opportunity to use the Ukrainian GTS and underground gas storage facilities (UGS).

“Virtual reverse” involves the exchange of gas between operators of gas transmission systems. In this case, the gas does not physically move across the border, and the parties make offsets.

On the afternoon of November 22, Gazprom announced that it had recorded the subsidence of gas destined for Moldova in Ukraine. The Russian company warned that if the transit imbalance persists, “Gazprom” on November 28 will begin to reduce the supply of gas to GIS “Sudzha” for transit through the territory of Ukraine. The reduction will be in the amount of daily under-delivery. On November 22, Gazprom submitted 42.9 million cubic meters for transit through the territory of Ukraine. m per day.

At the same time, Gazprom noted that on November 21, Moldovagaz paid for part of the October deliveries under contracts. “The volume of actually delivered Russian gas, in respect of which payment for current supplies in November was violated, is 24.945 million cubic meters of gas. The total accumulated volume of subsidence on the territory of Ukraine is 52.52 million cubic meters of gas, the Russian company reported.

On October 1, the Moldovan authorities announced that Gazprom had reduced supplies to the country by a third, to 5.7 million cubic meters. m per day. “Gazprom” explained the reduction by Ukraine’s refusal to accept Russian gas at GIS “Sokhranovka”, and also complained about Moldova’s violation of payment deadlines. The company has threatened to stop deliveries if payments are not received by October 20. Chisinau issued a loan to Moldovagaz to pay for gas.
