In recent days, the Taliban has captured a number of major cities and moved even closer to the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. By the afternoon of August 13, according to Al Jazeera, the number of regions controlled by the Taliban had increased to 18 out of 34.
CNN, Reuters and The Washington Post, citing sources, reported that US military intelligence allows the fall of Kabul within a period of 90 to 30 days. The Russian Foreign Ministry agreed with such assessments.
