Damaged, private residential building in Belgorod
Russia will have the right to impose sanctions against the American company Maxar if it turns out that its satellite was filming Belgorod before the attack on it by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), First Deputy head of the International Committee of the Federation Council Vladimir Jabarov told RIA Novosti.
The day before, the agency wrote that its correspondents drew attention to the American commercial satellite GeoEye-1 company Maxar, which filmed Belgorod on June 30, that is, three days before the impact. Also on June 27, 22 and 20, other American satellites, Worldview-2 and Worldview-3, photographed the Belgorod region. How exactly the correspondents made this conclusion, the agency did not specify.
“If there is evidence, Russia has every right to consider the possibility of introducing this company under our sanctions,” Jabarov said.
On the night of July 3, the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote that a series of loud sounds was heard in Belgorod and admitted that they were made by the triggered air defense system (air defense). Later, the Ministry of Defense stated that at night Ukraine inflicted a “deliberate strike” with missiles “Tochka-U” with cluster munitions on residential quarters of Belgorod. The missiles managed to be shot down, but the wreckage of one of them fell on a residential building, the ministry said. A total of 72 houses were damaged.
As a result of the strikes in Belgorod, four people were killed, including three citizens of Ukraine and one Russian. Four others were injured, two of them a ten-year-old child and a man in serious condition.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under articles on the murder of two or more persons by a group of persons in a generally dangerous manner and on an attempt to commit this offense (paragraphs «a », «e », «w» Part 2 of Article 105, Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code). The maximum penalty is life imprisonment.
