Fhe der Leyen allowed the ceiling of prices for Russian gas at the European level According to the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the EU countries were able to meet the norm for gas storage capacity by 80% faster than planned
After the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the EU countries decided to reduce dependence on gas from Russia: buy it in other countries and switch to alternative energy sources. Moscow, in turn, has introduced a new mechanism for paying for gas for “unfriendly states” in rubles. Deliveries to countries that refused to pay in Russian currency, such as Poland and Bulgaria, stopped, and to some other countries (Germany, France)— reduced.
Against the background of rising gas prices and concerns about the complete cessation of supplies from Russia, a gas crisis began in Europe, the authorities of many countries urged residents to save energy resources. The European Commission has set a task for all EU countries to fill the storages by at least 80% before the start of the heating season (November 1).
