Roskomnadzor sent a request to the YouTube video hosting service to restrict access to the channels of Alexey Navalny’s associates Leonid Volkov and Vladimir Milov. They reported this on Twitter.

“Roskomnadzor and the Prosecutor General’s Office sent me a” letter of happiness ” via YouTube. They say that my channel calls for mass riots, ” Volkov wrote.

In the screenshot of the message from the video hosting, it is said that Roskomnadzor added one of the videos on the Volkov channel to the list of prohibited materials. “If you do not delete the content, Google may be forced to block it,” the message says.

A similar letter came to Milov. “I received a morning greeting from Roskomnadzor. They are trying to block my YouTube channel, ” he said.

In an interview with RBC, Volkov said that he was not going to delete his channel. “No, I’m not going to delete it. So the appeals came through all channels to former and current employees. No one will delete anything, ” he said.

RBC has contacted YouTube and Google for comment.

On the eve of Roskomnadzor blocked Navalny’s website navalny.com based on the federal law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection” after the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

At the same time, access was blocked to the websites of fellow oppositionist Leonid Volkov and Lyubov Sobol, the website of the Anti-Corruption Fund created by Navalny (FBK, recognized as a foreign agent and an extremist organization, the court decided to ban it), the websites of Navalny’s headquarters (recognized as an extremist organization and banned) in the regions of Russia and other related resources, a total of 49 sites.

Volkov called the incident “the night of the long knives”. Sobol said that the blocking is illegal. She explained that her website did not actually work, because it was created for the State Duma elections, where she can no longer run because of the recognition of the Anti-Corruption Fund as an extremist organization. “The law does not allow closing websites just because they belong to Sobol, at least not yet,” Navalny’s colleague said.

Roskomnadzor explained the blocking of resources by the decision of the Moscow City Court of June 9 on recognizing the FBK, the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens ‘ Rights and Navalny’s headquarters as extremist organizations and banning their activities. “The mentioned Internet resources are used for propaganda and continuation of prohibited extremist activities,” the RCN said.
