Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Xi Jinping on his re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The telegram was published on the Kremlin’s website.

“Dear Mr. Xi Jinping, please accept my warmest congratulations on your re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The results of the 20th anniversary Congress of the CPC fully confirmed your high political authority, as well as the unity of the party you lead,” the congratulation reads.

Putin noted that he would be glad to continue constructive dialogue and joint work on the development of “comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction” between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the decisions of the congress will contribute to the successful implementation of the large-scale socio-economic tasks facing China.

“I sincerely wish you, dear friend, new successes in your responsible activities, good health and well-being,” Putin added.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has re-elected Xi Jinping to the post of General Secretary for a third five-year term. It happened on October 23. The vote was held at the first plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China of the 20th convocation.
