Kiev after Putin's article accused the Russian tsars of rewriting history

The interpretation of history by Russian President Vladimir Putin does not differ in “special originality”, said the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Alexander Tkachenko. This is how he reacted to the article published the day before by the Russian leader about the relations between the two countries.

“Putin wrote an extremely voluminous and pathetic article about the alleged unity of Russians and Ukrainians. Moreover, he decided to switch to Ukrainian in order to tell Ukrainians his interpretation of history. However, this interpretation is not particularly original. The Russian tsars began to rewrite history when they assigned the name ” Rus “to their Muscovy,” Tkachenko said in his Telegram channel.

According to the minister, this year Ukraine will celebrate the independence of the country, ” which actually has its roots in more than a thousand years of history.”

“From there began the glorious formation of the Kievan princes, who were not only visionaries and modern rulers, but also laid the foundations of the freedoms that independent Ukraine inherited. And definitely not Russia, ” the Ukrainian minister concluded.

Russian Russian and Ukrainian versions of Putin’s article “On the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians” were published the day before, on July 12, in Russian and Ukrainian. In it, the President analyzed the history of the two peoples and assessed the current state of affairs. In particular, Putin called modern Ukraine ” entirely the brainchild of the Sovietepochs». According to him, “the Bolsheviks treated the Russian people as an inexhaustible material for social experiments “and therefore” arbitrarily cut borders, distributed generous territorial gifts”. “One thing is obvious: Russia was actually robbed,” the president noted.

From the USSR, Ukraine was a powerful power with advanced industries and developed science, and now it is the poorest country in Europe, Putin continued. “Who is to blame for this? Is it the people of Ukraine? Finally, no. It was the Ukrainian authorities who squandered, wasted the achievements of many generations, ” he believes.

According to the president, even before the Crimea became part of Russia, the Western powers, “step by step, dragged Ukraine into a dangerous geopolitical game,” controlling the process of cultivating the image of an internal and external enemy. “Inevitably, the time has come when the concept of “Ukraine” is not Russia ” is no longerarranged it. It took & laquo;anti-Russia», & mdash; Putin said. However, millions of residents of Ukraine, according to him, rejected such a project:in particular, “the Crimeans and Sevastopol residents made their historical choice,” and the residents of Donbass ” took up arms to protect their home, language, and their lives.”

Putin finished his article by saying that Russia has never been and will never be “anti-Ukraine”. According to him, “the true sovereignty of Ukraine is possible precisely in partnership with Russia,” since Russians and Ukrainians are “one people”.
