According to Kadyrov, Zakayev defames the honor of the Chechen people and Chechen men by recording videos with calls not to participate in a special operation in Ukraine, “to flee” and “to leave the homeland”. Chechnya is part of Russia and this “unnerves fugitive criminals”, the head of the republic said. “We Chechens are a free people in Russia. We decided to be part of it ourselves. They decided to protect her themselves. Come and try to take this right away from us, if you have at least something masculine left,” Kadyrov said. Akhmed Zakayev is a former brigadier general of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (a terrorist organization banned in Russia).
