Currently, the sixth power unit remains in operation, which supplies electricity to Ukraine with limited capacity through a backup line, and also provides for the own needs of the Zaporozhye NPP, the Ukrainian company added. Earlier, on September 3, the civil-military administration of the city of Energodara reported that the fifth and sixth power units of the Zaporozhye NPP are in working condition. “Specialists are working on the power transmission line previously damaged by the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Two damages were detected on 330 and 750 lines. The fifth and sixth power units are in working condition. The total capacity is 900–1000 MW»,— reported the CAA.
At the same time, according to the report, the supply of energy from the Zaporozhye NPP to the territory controlled by Kiev was suspended “due to technical difficulties”.

Since the end of February, Russian troops have been controlling the territory of Energodar and the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, but the NPP itself is still managed by Ukrainian operators. Since the beginning of hostilities, it has been constantly subjected to shelling, in which Russia and Ukraine blame each other.
On August 25, as a result of damage from shelling, the station was completely disconnected from the power grid for some time for the first time in history. The head of the Ukrainian Energoatom, Pyotr Kotin, also claimed that Russian engineers had developed a plan to switch the NPP in case the fighting would lead to the rupture of the remaining lines.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, has repeatedly called for an end to hostilities near the facility in order to avoid a nuclear catastrophe. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has repeatedly advocated the demilitarization of the Zaporozhye NPP. This goal was also called by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, but the Russian side opposes, arguing that the station will become more vulnerable.
On September 1, the IAEA mission headed by Grossi visited the NPP. He said that the buildings of the nuclear power plant were damaged as a result of shelling. Six specialists of the organization remained at the facility, two of them will be there on a permanent basis.
