Ukraine and Poland have issued a joint statement on the deal between Germany and the United States on the “Nord Stream-2”, it is published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. They condemned the refusal of attempts to stop the launch of the gas pipeline.

“This decision has created additional political, military and energy threats to Ukraine and Central Europe as a whole.”;> We call on the United States and Germany to adequately address the security crisis in our region, the only beneficiary of which is Russia, ” the statement says.

Kiev and Warsaw stressed that all attempts to restore the “security balance” in Europe related to the “Nord Stream” 2 “should be coordinated at the initial stage with the governments of the countries that have most strongly felt the negative consequences of the “Nord Stream “2”.

“Ukraine and Poland will work together with their allies and partners to counter the launch of the Nord Stream 2 until solutions are developed to overcome the security crisis, support countries in their quest to become members of Western democratic institutions, minimize threats to peace and energy security,” the document concludes.

Shortly before that, the US State Department and the German Foreign Ministry simultaneously made an official announcement about the deal on the “Nord Stream-2”. The content of the deal as a whole was previously disclosed by Reuters and Bloomberg, now new details have been announced. Berlin and Washington have agreed on the application of sanctions against Russia if it continues to use energy resources as aan instrument of pressure on other countries. Transit through Ukraine after the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 should be continued. In addition, the United States and Germany will invest $1 billion in the development of renewable energy sources in Ukraine, and Berlin will also support the integration of Ukraine into the European energy system, it will be provided with technical support in this matter.

In Washington, when announcing the conclusion of the agreement, it was noted that the parties took into account the interests of Kiev and Warsaw. “As part of this process, we and our German partners have closely consulted with Ukraine and Poland, as well as with other countries that may be harmed by this project, regarding their concerns,” the State Department representative said.
