It is impossible to talk about the disruption of supplies of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V to Argentina, the difficulties that have arisen will be resolved, said the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, the correspondent of RBC reports.
“Not a breakdown, but delays. Hard work is being done, ” the Kremlin representative said, noting that meeting the demand for the vaccine from the Russians themselves remains an absolute priority for the Russian authorities.
“As for the fulfillment of obligations on foreign markets, they will be fulfilled. There was a delay and the RDIF is in contact with the counterparty to resolve the inevitable problems, ” Peskov explained.
Earlier, the newspaper La Nation, citing a letter that the adviser to the President of Argentina Cecilia Niccolini sent to the first Deputy Director General of the RDIF Anatoly Braverman, reported that delays in the supply of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V” led to a critical situation. According to her, in July, Argentina did not receive 5.5 million doses of the first component of the V Satellite and 13.1 million of the second, while manufacturers from other countries comply with delivery schedules.
“At the moment, the entire contract [with Russia] is under threat of termination. We understand the existence of a shortage and production difficulties that arose a few months ago. But now, seven months later, we are still far behind the delivery schedule, ” La Nation quoted Niccolini’s letter.
Argentina allowed the use of the V Satellite in December last year, becoming the second foreign state, after Belarus, to approve its use. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 4.8 million people have fallen ill in the country (including 13.5 thousand in the last day), more than 103 thousand have died (267 in the last day).
