Investigators have put on the wanted list lawyer Ivan Pavlov, the lawyer said in his Telegram. He did not specify what kind of search he was talking about – federal or international.
The corresponding resolution was issued on September 20, Pavlov learned about it from the adviser to the head of Roscosmos, former journalist Ivan Safronov, who is charged with treason. Safronov, in turn, was informed about this by investigator Alexander Chaban, who is leading his case.
Pavlov said that neither he nor his lawyers have been called to the investigation since the summer, although his location is not difficult to establish.
On April 30, Pavlov was searched, then he was detained. The lawyer said that, according to investigators, he divulged the secret of the investigation twice: the first time when he handed over to the newspaper “Vedomosti” the decision to involve Safronov as a defendant in the case of high treason, and the second time when he reported the appearance in the case of the testimony of a secret witness under the pseudonym Lander. On the same day, the lawyer was charged with disclosing the data of the preliminary investigation (Article 310 of the Criminal Code).
The lawyer considers the charges unfounded. On September 7, he announced that he had left Russia for Georgia. He explained this step by the fact that the prohibitions imposed on him in connection with the criminal case (using communication means and the Internet, communicating with the defendant and with some colleagues) made it impossible to work in the country. In particular, this led to a ban on communication with Safronov, whom the IC interrogated as a witness in the Pavlov case. The lawyer indicated that he intends to return to Russia in the future.
The case against Pavlov was initiated on the basis of a report sent personally by FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov to the chairman of the TFR Alexander Bastrykin, his colleague Yevgeny Smirnov reported. The lawyer is sure that the investigator who is conducting his case is under the control of the FSB and the Shepherd.
In addition to Safronov, Pavlov also represented the cases of the former top manager of Inter RAO, Karina Tsurkan (in December 2020, she received 15 years in prison for espionage) and physicist Valery Golubkin, who is suspected of treason.
Pavlov previously headed the law firm “Team 29”. In July, it ceased operations after blocking its website and after the Ministry of Justice recognized the Czech Společnost svobody informace, whose founder in 2015 was Pavlov, as an undesirable organization.
In October, the Ministry of Justice demanded that Pavlov be stripped of his lawyer status. The agency justified this by the fact that the lawyer cooperated with a foreign organization, which was later recognized as undesirable, and received money from foreign sources. According to the ministry, he conducted political activities in Russia on them.
