Medvedev, after Putin’s speech, said that the federal five list is a joint proposal from him and the president. The list includes Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, chief physician of the hospital in Kommunarka Denis Protsenko, co-chairman of the ONF Elena Shmeleva and Commissioner for Children Anna Kuznetsova.

“These candidates are our joint proposal with Vladimir Putin. We can entrust the party to people who work in the most important areas of our life, which are well known to the people of our country. I hope that you will support the president’s proposal, ” he said, according to a RBC correspondent.

The fact that Medvedev may not be included in the federal part of the list of “United Russia”, was previously reported by sources of RBC. According to them, the party also discussed the option in which Medvedev will not be on the election list. Among the reasons, one of the interlocutors of RBC called the fact that Medvedev’s leadership is now not added to the EP in terms of rating and in connection with its sociological indicators can cause “unnecessary conversations and discussions”.

According to VTSIOM at the end of May, 23.3% of respondents said they trusted Medvedev, and 66.6% said they did not trust him (a closed question, when a respondent should choose one politician from the proposed list). According to the answers to an open question, when respondents could name any number of politicians, 2.1% of citizens expressed confidence in the chairman of United Russia, and 12.1% expressed distrust.

If Medvedev is not included in the federal list of the EP, it will need to be explained to the voter, said the source of RBC. According to him, it is possible that Medvedev, as the head of the party, will lead its campaign, while remaining in the post of deputy head of the Security Council.

At the congress, Putin explained his proposal for the federal five of United Russia by saying that the party, especially its head list, should include both “political heavyweights” and new members-those who “represent important areas of our life”.
