The British military announced the release of a tanker in the Gulf of Oman

The armed men who seized the ship in the Gulf of Oman have left it, the incident is over. This was reported by the British Navy, the Associated Press reports.

The Royal Navy clarified that we are talking about a ship captured off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sky News sources previously reported on the seizure of the Asphalt Princess tanker, which flies the flag of Panama, near the coast of this state.

According to the TV channel’s interlocutors in the security agencies, a group of eight or nine armed people boarded the ship.

The Times wrote that Asphalt Princess is owned by Prime Tankers LLC. According to the newspaper’s sources in the British government, Iran or its allies may be involved in the incident with the tanker.

The British Organization for the Coordination of Maritime Trade Transport (UKMTO), which is part of the British Navy, reported an incident off the coast of the emirate of Fujairah. The UKMTO has qualified it as a “potential hijacking” of a vessel.

Later, the British magazine Lloyd & # 39;s List indicated that the Asphalt Princes tanker seized by armed men was heading towards Iran. This was confirmed by the data of the Marine Traffic vessel tracking service.

Sky News and the Associated Press also reported on August 3 that at least four ships off the coast of the UAE transmitted a warning that they had lost control of the controls under unclear circumstances. It was about the oil tankers Queen Ematha, which sails under the flag of Guyana, Golden Brilliant (Singapore), Jag Pooja (India) and Abyss (Vietnam).

The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied suggestions that the Iranian military could have boarded any ships in the Persian or Oman Gulfs. The official representative of the ministry, Said Khatibzadeh, warned that “false news” about Iran’s involvement may appear in the press. He called reports of consecutive incidents with ships in the Persian Gulf and the region as a whole extremely suspicious.Instagram Live broadcasts and instant news on our Instagram
