A two-week monitoring of the situation with the incidence of coronavirus among graduates and their family members, organized after the “Scarlet Sails” holiday in St. Petersburg, showed a gradual decrease in the number of those infected from the observed group, said Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Irina Potekhina on the VKontakte page.

Monitoring of sick graduates and their family members was conducted from the day of the event on behalf of the head of the federal operational headquarters Tatyana Golikova, Potekhina said.

The holiday “Scarlet Sails” was held in St. Petersburg on June 25. According to the Committee on Education, the citywide graduation gathered about 40 thousand graduates. The event caused a public outcry due to the large crowd of people at the height of the pandemic, social media users wrote that many were without masks and did not observe social distance.

We listened to the wishes of the parent community. They did not deprive 40 thousand people of a holiday that happens only once in a lifetime, ” he said. According to him, when issuing tickets, the authorities warned everyone that the final choice is up to them, and told about the possible risks and the need to use personal protective equipment.
