The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has banned entry to the top leadership of Australia in response to “unfriendly” actions, according to a message on the department’s website.
The list includes Prime Minister Scott Morrison, his deputy Barnaby Joyce, Interior Minister Karen Andrews, Finance Minister Simon Birmingham, Defense Minister Peter Dutton, Foreign Minister Maryse Payne, Attorney General Michaelia Cash. The restrictions affected deputies of the House of Representatives, members of the Senate and the Legislative Assembly. A total of 228 Australians have been placed under sanctions restrictions.
The Foreign Ministry called the entry ban a response to the actions of the Australian government, which is ready to support any actions aimed at deterring Russia. Later, the agency will include in the list of Australian military, businessmen, experts and media personalities who “contribute to inciting a negative attitude” to Russia.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry banned the entry of 130 representatives of New Zealand. The sanctions included Governor-General Cynthia Kiro, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, his deputy Grant Robertson, Foreign Minister Nanaya Mahuta, Defense Minister Pini Henare and other ministers. Now the commanders of the troops, the Director General of the Government Communications Security Bureau, Andrew Hampton, the Director General of the Security and Intelligence Service, Rebecca Kitteridge, as well as a number of parliamentarians will not be able to come to Russia.
Moscow pointed to the actions of the Cabinet of Ministers, who forgot about their interests and generally accepted decencies, and also began to follow a “Russophobic course”.

The authorities of many countries have begun to impose sanctions against Russia against the background of the military operation in Ukraine.
On February 28, Australia banned entry into the country and imposed financial restrictions against Russian President Vladimir Putin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev. They took part in an open meeting of the Security Council on the recognition of the independence of the LPR and the DPR.
New Zealand has included more than 100 politicians and other citizens of Russia and Belarus in the “stop list” for entry into the country. It also included Putin, Mishustin, Lavrov, Shoigu, Kolokoltsev, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Presidential Administration Anton Vaino, representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
The first deputy head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Deputy head of the Government Dmitry Grigorenko, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, head of the Rosgvardiya Viktor Zolotov, Director of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov will not be able to go to New Zealand.
The sanctions of the two countries also concern a number of Russian businessmen and have imposed import duties.
