According to the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan in the Batken region, Marufkhan Tullaev, it all started with the fact that people from Tajikistan blocked the Batken-Isfana road crossing the border in the area of Cake-Kocho and “without any notification and warning” began construction work. After negotiations between the authorities, the road was opened. However, a few minutes later, shooting began from Tajikistan.

Zubaydullo Shomadov, a spokesman for the Tajik Isfara City Hall, in turn, said that the conflict began after Tajik cars were pelted with stones when they were driving across the border. According to Sputnik Tajikistan, six people were injured as a result of the shootout. “Sputnik Kyrgyzstan” reports about four soldiers wounded in the shooting.

Tajikistan has asked for a ceasefire. Despite this, Tajik soldiers are firing at the Kyrgyz border, skirmishes continue in the localities of Eki-Tash, Kum-Bazar, Chyr-Dobo.
