SBU accused the president of Motor Sich of supplying engines to Russia

WithBU: the president of Motor Sich Boguslaev is accused of supplying helicopter engines to Russia, the plant’s management, according to the SBU, has established transnational supply channels of Ukrainian aircraft engines to Russia, which were used there for the production and repair of attack helicopters

SBU accused the president of

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the president of the Ukrainian enterprise “Motor Sich”, located in the Kiev-controlled city of Zaporozhye, hero of Ukraine Vyacheslav Boguslaev, as well as the head of the Department of foreign economic activity of this enterprise on suspicion of working for Russia, according to the telegram channel of the SBU.

Both are suspected under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, Article 111-1 (collaboration) and Article 111-2 (aiding the aggressor state).

The criminal case is connected with the “illegal supply by “Motor Sich” of military goods for Russian assault aviation,” the SBU explained.

According to investigators, the plant’s management was involved in the deliveries, which “acted in collusion” with representatives of the Russian corporation “Rostec”. According to the agency, the suspects have established transnational supply channels of Ukrainian aircraft engines to Russia. They were used for the production and repair of Russian attack helicopters: the Mi-8AMTSh-VN, the Ka-52 Alligator and the Mi-28N Night Hunter, the SBU said.

According to the SBU, to circumvent the sanctions, the organizers of the scheme used controlled commercial structures in three countries of the Middle East, Europe and East Asia. These companies sent an order to a Ukrainian manufacturer “allegedly for the needs of a foreign party”, and then shipped military products to Russia.

RBC sent a request to a representative of Rostec.

On the eve of Boguslaev’s detention on charges of high treason, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the council of the administration of a part of the Zaporozhye region occupied by Russian forces, reported. According to him, Boguslaev’s house was searched, he was taken to Kiev under escort. The president of “Motor Sich” faces life imprisonment.

Prior to the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014, Motor Sich was the main supplier of engines for all types of Russian helicopters, as well as cargo and passenger aircraft of the AN. After that, restrictions were imposed on supplies due to the rupture of military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Kiev. HoweverThe Ukrainian side suspected that Boguslaev continued to do business with Russia. In 2018, he told RBC that the plant continues to ship engines to Russia, with the exception of military contracts. In March last year, the plant was nationalized.

Ex-Finance Minister of Greece announced the imminent economic collapse of the EU

Former Greek Finance Minister Varoufakis: the economic collapse of the EU is predetermined

Former Greek Finance Minister (from January to July 2015), MP from the left-wing MeRA party Yanis Varoufakis said that the economic collapse of the European Union is predetermined. He said this in an interview with N-tv.

“EU companies pay ten times more for gas than their competitors in the US or China. There are already interruptions in production, and very soon we will see that factories will look for new locations in the USA or in other countries. The European Union is in a deep crisis,” he said.

Varoufakis noted that rapid deindustrialization is already taking place in the EU, and then it will only get worse. Moreover, the EU’s problem is that there is no “union” as such, the politician noted. “When it comes to refugees or migrants, everyone acts in their own way. This also applies to gas. When it comes to switching to green technologies, we don’t have an agreement either,” he explained.

Ex-Finance Minister of Greece announced the imminent economic collapse of the EU

After the start of a special operation in Ukraine, Western sanctions against Russia, a reduction in gas supplies to Europe and an increase in its price, the EU faced an energy crisis and record inflation for several decades.

In mid-October, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reported that gas supplies to Europe from Russia decreased by 80% compared to last year. The IMF forecasts a decline in GDP growth in advanced European economies from 3.2% in 2022 to 0.6% in 2023.

On October 21, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, said that the EU budget lacks resources and flexibility to finance new priorities and called for its revision. “Servicing more debt, creating higher deficits requires our economy to grow. Growth is the only way, she stressed.

The Foreign Ministry called Russia’s accusations of shelling infrastructure hypocritical

The accusations against Moscow in the alleged shelling of the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine are the height of hypocrisy, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

The diplomat stressed that the European Union “has lost the moral right to say anything about war crimes”, because for 8 years it turned a blind eye to the killing of civilians by the Kiev regime in the Donbass, and “continues to cover up the criminal actions of Kiev”. “It is the feeling of complete impunity that determines the aggressive behavior of the Ukrainian authorities,” Zakharova stressed.

According to her, Russia will continue to carefully record and identify the organizers, perpetrators and accomplices of such crimes.

The Foreign Ministry called Russia's accusations of shelling infrastructure hypocritical

Russia has been launching missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure since October 10. The authorities called these attacks a response to the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which, according to President Vladimir Putin, was staged by the Ukrainian special services. The Ministry of Defense called the targets of the strikes objects of military control systems, communications and energy.

On October 19, Advisor to the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksandr Kharchenko said that about 40% of the country’s energy infrastructure was seriously damaged. He also warned about emergency and planned outages.

Scholz said that up to 30% of Germans do not support sanctions against Russia

ToGerman Chancellor Scholz: up to 30% of Germans do not support sanctions and arms supplies to Ukraine According to Scholz, many in Germany consider the course of the German government to be correct, but different opinions need to be taken into account

Scholz said that up to 30% of Germans do not support sanctions against Russia

Olaf Scholz

From 20 to 30% of the German population do not support sanctions against Russia and arms supplies to Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with Welt. He clarified that this is his personal impression after communicating with the Germans.

“My impression from conversations with citizens: from 20 to 30% do not agree with either the policy of sanctions or the supply of weapons. Among them are voters of almost all political persuasions from the CDU/CSU [Christian Democratic Union/The Christian Social Union], the FDP [Free Democratic Party], the Green Party, and also from the SPD [Social Democratic Party]. I argue with the doubters and explain the reasons for our decisions,” he noted.

At the same time, according to Scholz, a lot of people in Germany consider the course of the German government to be correct, but different opinions need to be taken into account. “We must not lose sight of this if we want to stick together as a society,” the chancellor added.

Scholz announced a significant reduction in taxes and duties in Germany, an increase in employee allowances with a salary of up to 1.2 thousand and an increase to 400 benefits for families with two children.

After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the United States, the EU and their allies imposed several packages of sanctions against Russia. They touched upon the financial sector, energy and a wide range of imports and exports. Brussels’ sanctions did not affect gas supplies to Europe, however, according to the IMF, they decreased by 80% compared to last year. This happened against the background of a complete stop of the Nord Stream, and later an explosion on it and the Nord Stream-2.

Against the background of sanctions and a reduction in gas supplies in Europe, the energy crisis and an increase in inflation began. In particular, in Germany, inflation reached a record 7.9% in May. The main reason for this, the German authorities called the rise in energy prices, and there is a rise in the price of other goods, noted in the statistical office of Germany.

What changes in the Chinese government can be expected after the congress of the Communist Party

And why ex-President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao was taken out of the hall on the last day of the congress of the twentieth Congress of the Communist Party of China strengthened Xi Jinping’s position and prepared personnel appointments favorable to him. However, the carefully thought-out ending of the forum was disrupted by an unexpected incident with Hu Jintao, Xi’s predecessor

What changes in the Chinese government can be expected after the congress of the Communist Party

Xi Jinping

Updating China’s Party leadership

On Saturday, October 22, the 20th anniversary Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) ended in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping was able to strengthen his power on the eve of a historic re-election for a third term. More than 2,200 delegates of the congress approved amendments to the CPC constitution, which recognize Xi Jinping as the core of the party, and declare his ideas to be the Marxism of the XXI century.«the quintessence of Chinese culture and Chinese spirit». “The Congress unanimously approves the introduction into the Party’s Charter of the content on the new results of the development of Xi Jinping’s ideas about socialism with the Chinese specifics of the new era since the XIX Party Congress, in order to better demonstrate the achievements of the CPC Central Committee, the core of which is Comrade Xi Jinping,” the text of the adopted resolution says.

In fact, these amendments made Xi Jinping the most powerful leader of China after Mao Zedong. The first steps towards this were taken at the last party congress, in 2017. Then Xi presented his doctrine “Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese specifics in the New Era”, which was included in the CPC charter. This move demonstrated broad party support for the chairman. Then the doctrine was included in the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China and became the basis for China’s development until 2049. Xi Jinping became the third Chinese leader to present his own doctrine, after Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.

The Congress also elected a new composition of the CPC Central Committee of 205 people. It did not include four members of the current Standing Committee of the CPC Politburo (the main governing body of the CPC of seven people), including the second and third person after Xi in the Chinese hierarchy of power, Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (Parliament, NPC) Li Zhanshu. Also , they did not get into the new composition of the CPC Central CommitteeChairman of the National Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Council Wang Yang and First Deputy Premier Han Zheng. Most likely, none of these four will now get into the Politburo and the Standing Committee, whose composition will be announced on October 23 following the results of the first plenum of the CPC Central Committee of the new convocation. It is also expected to announce the re-election of Xi Jinping. At the same time, the approval of these decisions will take place only in March 2023, at the annual session of the National People’s Congress.

According to the Financial Times newspaper, the absence of Li Keqiang in the lists actually indicates the early resignation of the prime minister. At the same time, Wang Yang was previously considered his likely successor.

CNBC also notes the absence from the list of new members of the CPC Central Committee of prominent economic figures who held relatively liberal views, including Vice Premier Liu He, known for trade negotiations with the United States, and the head of the State Committee for Control of Banking and Insurance Activities of the People’s Republic of China Guo Shuqing.

In general, the reshuffle of the CPC’s governing bodies will allow Xi Jinping to increase the number of his supporters in them, the Financial Times notes, “13 out of 25 members are expected to be replaced in the Politburo, and four out of seven in the Standing Committee.

The incident with the ex-President of the People’s Republic of China

On the day of the closing of the congress, an incident occurred, an explanation for which has not yet been given by either the PRC authorities or experts. Footage has appeared online showing former Chinese President Hu Jintao being taken out of the hall before the meeting, while it is obvious that against his will. There were no foreign journalists in the hall at that time, but the incident was captured by the camera of the agency “France Presse”. When the media representatives were allowed into the hall, the chair on Xi Jinping’s left hand was empty, and in front of him was a sign “Hu Jintao”.

Hu Jintao served as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China from 2002 to 2012 and was President of the People’s Republic of China from 2003 to 2013.

The video shows how 79-year-old Hu, sitting in a place of honor next to Xi, is approached by one of the stewards and tries to lift him from his chair, explaining something. Xi silently watches what is happening. Then a high-ranking employee of the CPC Central Committee secretariat approaches Hu, after which he is escorted out of the hall by two men. Leaving, Hu Jintao exchangedA few words with Xi Jinping and patted Li Keqiang on the shoulder. It is characteristic that at the opening of the congress, Hu was present in the hall during the almost two-hour speech of the Chinese leader. However, the Reuters news agency notes that he needed help to get to the chair, and he himself looked “insecure”, possibly due to health problems.

Victor Shi, an expert on Chinese politics from the University of California, San Diego, called the incident with Hu Jintao “simply amazing.” The South China Morning Post writes that this incident not only disrupted the carefully planned program of the congress, but also attracted considerable attention on the Internet. At the same time, in the Chinese segment of the Network, messages about the incident were erased, state media completely ignored it.

The Kiev authorities admitted that the city may be left without heating in winter

ZThe head of the Kiev City Administration: because of the shelling, the city may be left without heat in winter, Kiev is preparing for a scenario according to which the city may be left without heating for several days or weeks in winter due to strikes on infrastructure. The authorities are purchasing mobile boiler houses that can be used in hospitals and schools

Kiev authorities admitted that the city could be left without heating in winter

It is possible that heating will be turned off in Kiev apartment buildings for several days or weeks in winter, Deputy Chairman of the Kiev City State Administration (KSCA) Pyotr Panteleev said in an interview with “Economic Truth”.

This probability is not related to gas shortages or technological issues, but to Russian shelling of energy infrastructure facilities, he stressed.

According to Panteleev, the central heating network of the capitals is diversified, problems may arise in places where there will be damage as a result of missile attacks. “The system is quite large and inert. This is more than 3 thousand km of pipeline and a large number of sources,” he said.

Earlier in an interview with the Mirror of the Week, the deputy head of the KSCA said that in the event of an emergency, the authorities plan to use mobile boilers running on diesel fuel. Boiler houses can be moved around the city, they work on the principle of an electric generator, but they do not produce electricity, but heat. “For a hospital, maternity hospital or some other home. <...> It can be one school, if you have to deploy a heating point there,— Panteleev told «Economic truth ».

The heating season in Kiev began on October 20, the KSCA said that in this way the authorities want to reduce the load on the power grid. As Panteleev notes, despite the request to reduce electricity consumption, Kiev residents turn on heaters and air conditioners, this overloads the system.

The authorities of the Ukrainian regions are urging residents to reduce electricity consumption and introduce emergency shutdowns due to strikes on infrastructure facilities, which the Russian Defense Ministry has been reporting since October 10.According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, as a result of the shelling, up to 40% of the country’s energy infrastructure was damaged, almost 1.5 million people in seven regions were left without electricity on October 22.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson returned to the country after the resignation of Liz Truss and amid reports of his possible participation in the elections, Sky News reports.

According to the TV channel, Johnson was on vacation in the Dominican Republic with his wife and children, but after the resignation of Truss decided to return to Britain.

Sky News correspondent reports that the ex-prime minister was flying economy class, he was seen by passengers of the plane that landed at Gatwick airport. At the airport, Johnson waved to the journalists, after which the security service took him through the VIP terminal.

Truss announced her decision to resign on October 20, thus having served as prime minister and head of the Conservative Party for only 45 days. She admitted mistakes in economic policy and stated that she “could not justify the mandate of trust, thanks to which she was elected by the Conservative Party.”

As Prime Minister Truss was criticized for the draft budget for next year, after the announcement of which the financial and mortgage markets collapsed in Britain. The prime minister was also criticized because of her intention to reduce taxes and at the same time weaken the tax obligations of the wealthiest Britons, after which the yield of five-year government bonds rose to the maximum level.

The election of a new prime minister and party leader will be held on October 28, on the same day the results will be announced. Among the possible candidates for the post of head of the Cabinet are Johnson, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Leader of the House of Commons Penny Mordaunt.
