The talks scheduled for today in Berlin between German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky were canceled. The corresponding announcement was published on the website of the German Defense Ministry.
Earlier, the German Defense Ministry announced that a bilateral meeting of its head of the President of Ukraine will be held on July 12.
“On July 12, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer is waiting for the President of Ukraine, Mr. Vladimir Zelensky, at a bilateral working meeting at the Ministry of Defense in Berlin,” the press service said in a publication.
The conversation was supposed to be about the current development of the situation in the region and bilateral relations.
However, on Monday, July 12, a note appeared above the message that the negotiations were canceled.
The representative of the department did not name the reasons for canceling the negotiations. “The meeting was part of a large program of the visit to the German government. There were reshuffles, and the meeting with the Minister of Defense did not take place or will not take place, but I do not have any additional information for you, ” RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the department.
On July 9, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported that during his visit to Germany, which is scheduled for July 11, Zelensky will meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. During the negotiations, the parties intend to discuss “strengthening the role of Germany in the “Normandy format” and in establishing peace in the Donbas, ” they said in Kiev.
On the morning of July 12, Zelensky held talks with Steinmeier.
