Ukraine has stopped waiting for aviation supplies, but hopes to receive air defense systems, the safety of the sky is a priority, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said at a briefing with Irish Prime Minister Mihol Martin, who arrived in Kiev.

“This is a priority. No one expects this or that aviation anymore, but we all expect and have confirmation, so far theoretically, of the arrival of a powerful air defense in Ukraine,” Zelensky said (quoted by Interfax-Ukraine).

He added that Ukraine’s partners have long received data on what specific systems are needed and how many of them Kiev needs. According to the head of state, obtaining such systems will protect Ukrainian cities from shelling, and refugees will begin to return there.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry on July 6, since the beginning of the special operation, 232 Ukrainian aircraft and 137 helicopters have been destroyed, three of them in the last 24 hours.

In June, several countries announced new deliveries at once: for example, the United States promised HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (Kiev indicated that it had already received them) and Harpoon anti-ship missiles, France—a significant number of armored personnel carriers, Germany— three Mars II multiple launch rocket systems, Norway—mdash; 22 self-propelled howitzers, Slovakia— eight Zuzana howitzers.

On July 3, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger said on the Czech TV channel CT that Bratislava could provide Kiev with MiG-29 fighters, but then Prague should help protect the Slovak sky while the country is waiting for American F-16 fighters.

The Kremlin pointed out that, despite the supply of Western weapons, the goals of the special operation in Ukraine will be achieved, and the country will only get “more suffering” because of the weapons provided to it.
