The truce, established with the mediation of Russia, lasted less than a day. Yerevan and Baku once again declare mutual shelling
The Armenian Defense Ministry said that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces violated the ceasefire regime at night and began shelling the positions of the Armenian forces. The Armenian military returned fire.
“On July 29, at about three o’clock in the morning, on the Gegharkunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the direction of Karvachar, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, violating the ceasefire agreement reached the day before, again began shooting at Armenian positions,” the report says.
Azerbaijan makes counter-accusations and accuses Armenia of “gross violation” of the terms of the truce. “On July 29, from 02:45 to 03:40, units of the Armenian Armed Forces from positions in the direction of the village of Yukhary Shorja of Basarkechar district fired machine guns and grenade launchers at positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the village of Zeylik of Kelbajar district. 10–12 F-1 hand grenades were also thrown towards our positions,— the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.
A new escalation on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan occurred on July 28. Yerevan said that the Azerbaijani forces had started full-fledged military operations, and Baku reported shelling from the Armenian side. Yerevan reported three dead and four wounded. Baku reported two injured people.

The truce was announced in the morning of the same day, an agreement on it was reached through the mediation of Russian peacekeepers. The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was the subject of an operational meeting of the Russian Security Council chaired by President Vladimir Putin, Presidential press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reported.
