In Ukraine, the thesis of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russians and Ukrainians are one people was most actively supported by residents of the east of the country, where 65% of respondents considered it correct. The study was conducted by the sociological group “Rating”, its results are published on the organization’s website.

It is noteworthy that the share of Russians and Ukrainians who supported the unity remained approximately the same in all age groups: the value fluctuated in the corridor of 39-44%. Moreover, the largest shares of supporters of unity were in the opposite age groups: over 60 years (42%) and at the age of 18 & ndash;24 years (44%).
The largest number of those who supported Putin turned out to be among the parishioners of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (66%), as well as among “just believers” (52%). Among atheists, 43% turned out to be such, supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine-33%, and among Greek Catholics, 10% share the thesis of the Russian president.

Putin has repeatedly expressed the thesis that Russians and Ukrainians are one people.
