The Interior Ministry of Ukraine has drawn up a portrait of the attacker who attacked the assistant to the President of Ukraine, Sergei Shefir. This was stated by Deputy Interior Minister Yevgeny Enin, reports “Ukraine 24”.
“We know the alleged portrait, his height, weight and other traces that we established during the operational and investigative actions,” he said.
Enin added that, according to the police, the attacker did not act alone.
The deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that experts checked 430 hectares of forest in the area of the crime scene. The police also examined several thousand phone calls that were made on the day of the crime or a few days before it.

In addition to the Ukrainian side, the FBI will participate in the investigation. “So that our citizens and foreign colleagues would not have doubts about the objectivity, impartiality and professionalism of our investigation, we agreed to the offer of our American partners, in particular, the FBI, to cooperate with us. We are in contact with them, the process is underway, ” Yesin said.
The car of the presidential aide was shelled from the side of the road in the Kiev region on September 22. As specified by Yesin, 15 bullets hit the car. Shefir was in the back seat and was not injured, his driver was wounded in the leg and remains in the hospital, Yesin noted that his life is not in danger.
The Deputy Interior Minister pointed out that Shefir’s car was not armored. According to the Ukrainian police, the attackers wanted to shoot the driver and stop the car, then kill Shefir. However, the driver accelerated and saved himself and the passenger.
Sources of the Ukrainian publication “Left Bank” in law enforcement agencies claim that, most likely, non-professionals fired. “The shooting was chaotic, some bullets went through the cabin. One knocked out the roof from the inside, they shot at random, ” a source told the publication.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the attack with a preliminary qualification of “attempted murder of two or more persons” (Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The head of the National Police of Ukraine, Igor Klimenko, called three versions of the assassination attempt. “In connection with the state activities of the victim, with the aim of putting pressure on the country’s top leadership and with the aim of destabilizing the political situation in our country,” he said. Klimenko clarified that the involvement of foreign special services is not excluded.
Shefir himself said that the goal was to intimidate the highest echelon of power and influence the President of Ukraine. “I definitely see one goal,” it’s not me, I’m here indirectly, a friend of the president.
