The diplomat has been declared persona non grata. “A Japanese diplomat was detained red-handed while receiving limited information for a monetary reward about current aspects of Russia’s cooperation with one of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the impact of Western sanctions policy on the economic situation in Primorsky Krai,” the FSB Public Relations Center said. The consul worked at the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok.
