British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has demoted Foreign Minister Dominic Raab to the post of Secretary of State for Justice. This is reported on the website of the UK government.
According to the BBC and Reuters, Johnson faced calls to dismiss Raab after he went on vacation to the island of Crete at a time when the Taliban (the movement “Taliban” is recognized in Russia as a terrorist and is prohibited) were moving to Kabul, and also left unread thousands of emails from people seeking help to leave Afghanistan.
Elizabeth Truss, who at various times was a member of the cabinet of David Cameron and Theresa May, was appointed to replace Raab. She will become the second woman in the history of the UK to head the British Foreign Ministry. Prior to that, Truss served as the Minister for International Trade.
There were other changes in the Johnson government. So, the Minister of Education Gavin Williamson, who held the position since 2019, announced his resignation. Before that, he was the head of the British Ministry of Defense. Last week, Williamson found himself in the spotlight after he confused the England national rugby team player Maro Itoje with the striker of the Manchester United football club and the England national team, Marcus Rashford.
