According to the ambassadors, if Russia takes advantage of the opportunities for cooperation, in 30 years, thanks to its impressive and pristine nature and its climatic diversity, it can become a leading tourist destination for travelers from all over the world, the Ulyanovsk and Astrakhan regions can become hubs of renewable energy, Kuzbass from a coal deposit can turn into a region of science and “green” industry, and “Nord Stream-2” can supply Europe with “green” hydrogen, Moscow can also become an excellent platform for “green” financing.

The heads of diplomatic missions note that the foundations of such a future have already been laid, Europe and other regions of the world are also in the process of transforming their economic systems. The diplomats called important the statement of President Vladimir Putin at the Russian Energy Week that Russia will achieve climate neutrality no later than 2060.The dialogue on climate change between Russia and the EU may strengthen in the first half of 2022, when France will become president of the Council of the European Union on the principle of rotation, the authors point out. By the end of the year, the French Embassy will announce a competition among Russian cities on sustainable development, they reported another opportunity for cooperation.

The 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in Glasgow and will begin on October 31.
