People must observe a kind of checkpoint. That is, in fact, they travel on bicycles, mopeds, scooters, scooters, etc.,” the regional border department of the FSB told RBC. They added that if a person does not have a bicycle or other vehicle, then he passes the checkpoint by car, that is, it is impossible to pass the checkpoint with his feet. Traffic jams on the border with Georgia appeared after partial mobilization was announced in Russia. As the correspondent of RBC reported, at first it was possible to pass the checkpoints on foot, but later this opportunity was closed. People who did not know about the changes came to the checkpoint by taxi, and after being refused, tried to buy seats from motorists. Mini-bus drivers sold seats, transported people, and then returned back for a new group. On average, 10 thousand rubles were asked for a place in the car and crossing the border.
By September 26, according to Irbek Tomayev, Deputy Prime Minister of North Ossetia, about 3.5 thousand passenger cars had accumulated on the border with Georgia. “The total number of transit vehicles on the roads of the republic is 4891 units, including 1391 units of heavy-duty transport,” he said.
If we talk about the data for the past week, then the checkpoint “Upper Lars” on the border with Georgia was crossed in both directions by 37.5 thousand vehicles and 115.2 thousand people, Tomayev noted. According to him, this is 23.3% more than in the previous week.

Against the background of traffic jams on the border, the authorities of North Ossetia asked Russians to refuse to travel to Georgia. And Georgia, in turn, transferred the customs checkpoints to a special mode of operation and increased the number of employees there.
According to the Federal Customs Service at 06:00 on September 26, the largest queues at the checkpoint were recorded at points:
Upper Lars (Georgian border): 2500 cars (the previous record was recorded on Saturday, then at 6:00 there were 2000 cars in line);
— Kyakhta (Mongolian border): 85 cars;
Burachki (Latvian border): 70 cars;
— Ubylinka (Latvian border): 60 cars.
At six border points (out of 16) The North-Western Customs Administration (borders with Norway, Finland, Latvia and Estonia) has recorded a record number of passenger cars leaving Russia since the beginning of the year over the past day:
Torfyanovka (Finnish border): 1021 cars crossed the border in the last day (the previous record was recorded on Saturday, September 24, when 999 cars crossed the border);
— Lingonberry (Finnish border): 986 cars crossed the border in the last day (the previous record was recorded on Thursday, September 22, then 890 cars crossed the border);
